SOLIDWORKS FEA • Michigan & the Midwest

Will your tooling carry the load?

Structural finite element analysis for robot grippers, fixtures, pallets and machine components. Spinula Engineering uses SOLIDWORKS to evaluate stress and deflection under agreed loading conditions, helping your team make the next design decision.

Illustrative engineering workstation with a finite element model of robot tooling

The engineering decision

Start with the load. Define what acceptable means.

A component can meet a strength requirement and still deflect too much for its process. We define the load cases and acceptance criteria with your team so the analysis addresses both structural response and the needs of the application.

Robot grippers & tooling

Evaluate load paths through an end-of-arm tool, its mounting features and supporting structure.

Fixtures & assembly equipment

Study component response to specified clamping, pressing or process loads.

Pallets & machine components

Review a defined design revision or compare agreed material and geometry alternatives.

A scoped engineering package

What your team receives.

We agree on the inputs, coverage and outputs before work begins.

Analysis basis

Model revision, materials, applied loads, supports and modeling assumptions.

Structural results

Stress and displacement plots, with factor-of-safety evaluation against the agreed material criterion where applicable.

Engineering report

Findings, limitations and implications for the design. Additional variants and revisions are defined in the proposal.

How we work

From the question to the findings.

01

Define the question

Identify the part or assembly, load cases and the decision the results must support.

02

Build and evaluate

Prepare the analysis model and assess the agreed conditions using SOLIDWORKS.

03

Review the findings

Discuss the results and any design changes or additional studies needed.

Before you request a quote

Project questions.

What is included in a structural FEA study?

The scope normally covers the agreed model, loading and support conditions, structural results and a technical report. We define the number of load cases, design variants and review cycles in the proposal.

Can one static analysis establish fatigue life?

No. A static load case does not establish fatigue life. Repeated loading, impact, large deformation or other effects may require a different analysis scope and additional input data.

Can you help revise a gripper or fixture?

A study can be combined with gripper development or mechanical documentation. We agree on design responsibilities and the extent of any revisions before work begins.

What affects the quote and schedule?

CAD readiness, assembly complexity, connections, the number of load cases and the required outputs. Send the available information and your target date so we can define an appropriate scope.
