Client project story • EPIC

From structural dynamics
to robot feasibility.

Two separate engineering assignments for EPIC illustrate how Spinula supports machine development at the component and cell levels.

Study 01 / Structural dynamics

Understanding an assembly’s natural frequencies.

Spinula’s modal analysis scope covered preparation of a finite element model, extraction of natural frequencies and relevant mode shapes, and engineering interpretation of the results.

  • Reviewed operating data, boundary conditions and reference information supplied by the client.
  • Prepared the finite element model for modal extraction.
  • Captured frequencies and mode shapes, then consolidated the engineering findings.

Documented output

A PDF technical report covering natural frequencies, mode shapes, findings and conclusions. The modal-analysis and final-report activities are recorded as completed.

Study 02 / Robot feasibility

Reviewing access before committing to the arrangement.

A separate assignment addressed robot reach and feasibility for a carrier-pan face assembly fixture. Spinula reviewed the supplied 3D package, evaluated access and manipulation, and assessed clearance and interference constraints.

  • Reviewed the fixture and carrier-pan reference models.
  • Set up the robot reach and access simulation.
  • Assessed gripper clearance and interference risks.
  • Compiled feasibility visuals, recommendations and constraints into the final report package.

Documented output

Simulation visuals and a feasibility report with engineering findings. The simulation and final-report preparation activities are recorded as completed.

Two questions. Two useful studies.

Modal analysis addresses structural dynamic behavior. A robot feasibility study addresses access and manipulation. Keeping the scopes distinct gives the engineering team a clear basis for reviewing each decision.
